MASSAGE

Our bodies take a beating everyday. Injuries, electronics, stress, overuse and misuse of our bodies can all contribute to not only how well our bodies feel, but also how well they function. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. Massage has also been shown to assist with other conditions such as immune boosting, migraines, and sports related injuries. Our Massage Therapist has over ten years of experience specializing in several modalities of therapeutic massage such as:

Swedish Massage - Swedish Massage includes long, gliding strokes, kneading, and stretching. It is often referred to as relaxation massage.

Deep Tissue Massage - Deep tissue is based on Swedish Massage. Some techniques are used more than others (stripping and friction) and it usually involves firmer pressure.

Trigger Point Therapy - Trigger points are hypersensitive, hyper irritated points in muscles or tendons. They can be caused by a number of factors, such as stress, poor posture, or trauma. Compression directly on the trigger point is the only way to relieve them.

Active Release Technique - a soft tissue based massage technique that works on overused muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

Sports Massage - Sports massage is based on Swedish Massage. Some techniques are used more than others, such as stretching and kneading. Sports massage is used both pre- and post-event.

Prenatal Massage - When a woman is pregnant, her body undergoes significant hormonal and structural changes. Prenatal Massage helps alleviate strain on the low back and lower extremities, helps with circulation and fluid movement if there is swelling. Prenatal Massage can also help lessen and alleviate anxieties.
